MAIRONIS GARDEN

Since Maironis had purchased the mansion, he also managed the inner yard – he demolished the shanties, storages, planted a garden, formed parterres. The poet enjoyed gardening, liked flowers, and was interested in fruiters, fostered surroundings.
In 1933 for Maironis death anniversary his sister Marcele stationed a sculpture “Christ” (sculptor Petras Aleksandravicius) in the garden, which was demolished in 1976 and in 1990 rebuilt again.
Now Maironis garden is a wonderful resting-place after visiting the museum!
